What to Tell Us When You Book

To help us allocate the right amount of time for your appointment, it's useful to know:

  • How long you've been experiencing symptoms
  • Whether you've had any previous dry eye investigations or treatment
  • Any medications you're currently taking
  • Whether you wear contact lenses

You don't need to have all of this to hand — we can take details when we confirm your appointment.

What's Included in a Dry Eye Assessment?

A dry eye assessment at our clinic covers:

Symptom review — we start by listening. We want to understand your symptoms in detail before we examine anything.

Meibomian gland imaging — infrared meibography to directly visualise your gland structure and identify any atrophy or dysfunction.

Tear film analysis — assessing stability and composition to understand whether evaporation, insufficient production, or both are contributing.

Lid margin examination — detailed slit lamp assessment looking for blepharitis, Demodex signs, rosacea-related changes, and meibomian secretion quality.

Symptom scoring — validated questionnaires to quantify your symptom burden and give us a baseline to measure progress against.

Findings and recommendations — we explain what we've found in plain language, what it means, and what treatment options are available. No obligation to proceed with anything on the day.
