Dry Eye Yorkshire
Your Specialist Dry Eye Resource

Gritty. Burning. Tired. Watery. Never quite right.
You've tried the drops. You've been told your eyes are fine. But every day your eyes are uncomfortable — and nobody has really explained why, or what to do about it.
Dry eye disease is one of the most common and most undertreated conditions in eye care. The good news is that for most people, it's very manageable — with the right assessment and the right treatment.
We're a specialist dry eye clinic serving Kirklees, Calderdale, and the wider West Yorkshire area. We do one thing, and we do it properly.
The Problem With "Just Use Drops"
.
Most people with dry eye disease have been given drops and sent on their way. For mild cases that's sometimes enough. For most people it isn't — because drops treat the symptom, not the cause.
The majority of dry eye disease is driven by a problem with the oil-producing glands in your eyelids. Drops can't fix a gland that isn't working. What it needs is proper assessment to find out what's actually going on — and treatment that addresses it directly.
That's what we do.
Is This You?
- Your eyes feel dry, gritty, or burning — especially by the end of the day
- You use drops regularly but the relief never lasts
- Your eyes water constantly — even though they feel dry
- Screens, air conditioning, and wind make things significantly worse
- Your eyelids feel sore, crusty, or sticky in the morning
- You've been told your eyes look fine — but they don't feel fine
- You've had to reduce or give up contact lens wear
- Your vision fluctuates through the day and clears when you blink
If several of these sound familiar, a dry eye assessment is the right next step.

Why Dry Eye Yorkshire?
Specialist focus This clinic exists solely to assess and treat dry eye disease and the conditions that drive it. It's not a bolt-on service — it's what we do.
Proper assessment Every patient starts with a comprehensive assessment — meibomian gland imaging, tear film analysis, lid margin examination, symptom scoring. We find out what's actually driving your symptoms before recommending any treatment.
Evidence-based treatment We only offer treatments with a credible evidence base. We'll tell you clearly what the evidence shows — and what it doesn't — so you can make an informed decision.
Honest advice If a treatment isn't right for you, we'll tell you. If something else would work better, we'll say so. We're an independent practice with no obligation to push any particular product or service.
Experience you can trust Our lead clinician Steve Dando has over 20 years of clinical experience, holds a Professional Certificate in Glaucoma, and has personal experience of IPL and LLLT treatment for dry eye. He knows what it's like to be the patient as well as the clinician.
Rooted in the community Our practice has been based in Cleckheaton since 1947. We're not a chain, not a franchise, and not going anywhere.
Regional Care Focus
We're based in Cleckheaton — well placed for patients travelling from across Kirklees and Calderdale, including Huddersfield, Halifax, Bradford, Dewsbury, Batley, Brighouse, and the surrounding areas.
